About Us
The Santa Clara Pueblo people settled in Puye (poo yay), their ancestral home, around 900 AD. As their population increased, they moved to the nearby Rio Grande Valley in the early 1600’s to cultivate new fields and allow their community to flourish and grow.
Today, Santa Clara Pueblo is home to some 575 families, and its people hold firm to their time-honored traditions of Puye. Santa Clara’s artistic traditions are well-known, and its artisans’ pottery is collected and prized throughout the world.
